๐Ÿ’ก The American Experience: Did You Know?

๐Ÿง  The 2.45 GHz Standard Behind Every Kitchen Microwave
In 1947, the Federal Communications Commission established dedicated Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) radio spectrum bands, assigning 2.45 GHz as an unallocated frequency for non-telecom devices. Contrary to popular belief, 2.45 GHz was chosen not because it matches the resonant absorption peak of water molecules, but because it allowed microwave radiation to penetrate deep into food items without interfering with radar systems or radio broadcasts.

๐Ÿบ Mฤori Pฤ Earthworks: Engineering Against Heavy Artillery
๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ New Zealand • 1840s
During the ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ New Zealand Wars of the 1840s, Mฤori military engineers re-engineered traditional timber-and-earth fortifications (pฤ) into defensive networks specifically designed to counter ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง British artillery. Pฤ like Ruapekapeka utilized double-row wooden palisades backed by anti-artillery flax matting and deep subterranean bunker networks (rua). Rather than resisting cannon fire rigidly, the earth-and-flax structures absorbed explosive shockwaves, allowing defending forces to survive thousands of British artillery shells intact. British commanders estimated during the 1845โ€“1846 campaigns that massed bombardment failed to breach the inner defenses, forcing imperial troops into costly frontal assaults.
